PRESS RELEASE: First Baptist Church of Archdale to Share Southside Baptist Church Building as Temporary Home

Archdale, NC, March 6, 2013:  First Baptist Church of Archdale (FBCA) is excited to announce the next phase of their journey after the official sale of their current property to Community Outreach of Archdale Trinity (COAT). After purchasing 12 acres of land at the intersection of Archdale Road and Highway 62 for the building of the future church building, FBCA has shared its current location with COAT until the sale was made official July 2nd, 2012. “First Baptist has enjoyed the time we have spent with COAT and supporting their incredible ministry over the past years. However, it is time for us to make the move to a temporary location while we complete funding for our future building in Archdale,” said Pastor Robert ‘Bob’ Ferguson of FBCA. 

Starting on Sunday, March 31st, 2013 at 11:00am, FBCA will begin sharing the Southside Baptist Church facility located at 2515 Bellemeade Street in South High Point in a special combined congregation service for Easter. “We could not be more grateful for the kindness of the Southside Baptist Church family as they open their doors to our congregation as we are in between locations,” says Pastor Bob. “We look forward to continuing to offer the same ministries to the Archdale and Trinity communities, just from a different ‘home’”.

FBCA has been an integral part of the Archdale and Trinity communities for more than 62 years, when they first built on the property located on the corner of Main and Frazier streets. FBCA hosts regular weekly services on Wednesday and Sunday. Away we GROW!

We have purchased 12+ Acres on the corner of Archdale Road & Highway 62, behind the Laundry Mat.  We are excited for the opportunity God has given us and are looking forward to using this land to grow his kingdom! 

Here's an update on our adventures:

• THE CHURCH IS OFFICIALLY SOLD! The contract between FBCA & COAT closed July 2nd, 2012.  We will be moving to our temporary location March 31, 2013.
• Temporary location will be joining Southside Baptist Church in the joint use of their facility while we continue to raise funds and move towards building our next church home.
• Our Steering Committee, (the group nominated and designated to brainstorm and lead the process of building our new facility), is working with our Architect - Gary Robbins - on officially starting the process of putting together final pricing on clearing the land, a potential building, etc.
• Our Steering Committee is working dilligently on the next steps in the process, which will be getting the created plans approved by the NC DOT so that we can proceed with hiring a contractor and clearing the land.
• The "wish list" specifications are from a previously filled out "wish list" survey which the Steering Committee has kept on file.
• We must keep up our monthly building fund giving to help pay for the new  building as quickly as possible! Don't take away from your regular budget giving, but give as the Lord leads you.
• The church is NOT the building, the church is the PEOPLE!  WE are the church!
